Job summary

Dauphin County Library System in Harrisburg, PA is seeking a Library Supervisor for the McCormick Riverfront Library. This full-time role (37.5 hours weekly) pays $18.48 per hour and runs Monday through Friday with occasional nights and weekends.

The Library Supervisor will manage staff and volunteers, coordinate workflow, provide guidance, and ensure an excellent user experience while upholding library standards and ethics.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
• Experience: One year supervisory or equivalent experience; customer service experience in a library setting preferred.
• Required: Occasional independent transportation to libraries, ability to lift 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the Public Service Assistants, Pages, and Volunteers and oversees training of branch personnel.
• Communicates The Library’s goals and priorities and policy changes to direct reports.
• Leads staff participation in library initiatives, programs, events and promotions.
• Plans and coordinates day-to-day workflow and operations; implements cash receipts procedures.
• Delivers excellent customer service and assists patrons with basic computer use.
• Engages with community partners; travels to Dauphin County locations and performs outreach.
• Opens/closes the building and maintains public security; prepares monthly reports.
• Attends staff meetings and supports the Library Manager in agenda development.

Education
