Job summary

McCormick Riverfront Library is seeking a part-time Public Services Assistant to deliver exceptional customer service and assist members with locating materials, Reader’s Advisory, and basic reference questions. The role includes helping patrons use online resources, signing in to computers, and handling routine inquiries in person or by phone.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of customer service experience, and the ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Qualifications

• One year of customer service experience dealing with the public.
• Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent experience, performing data entry.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to move 35 lbs. unassisted.

Responsibilities

• Assist members with locating library materials and provide Reader’s Advisory services.
• Explain library policies and assist with online resources and basic computer use.
• Handle in-person and phone inquiries and refer complex issues to a supervisor.
• Open/close branch and assist with events and programs on site.
