Job summary

Stearns County is seeking a Payroll/HR Payroll Assistant to process biweekly payroll, maintain personnel records, and generate reports for county departments. The role ensures accurate payments in line with union contracts and policies.

Hiring rate is $25.33/hour with a full salary range of $25.33–$37.18/hour. Normal hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, in Minnesota. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Two years of post-secondary preparation and three years payroll or accounting experience OR seven years payroll or accounting experience.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Maintain personnel files by auditing wages, benefits, and deductions to ensure accuracy.
• Process biweekly payroll for various pay types in accordance with contracts and policies.
• Audit hires, terminations, and timesheets for compliance with policies and union contracts.
• Prepare tax deposits and regulatory reports bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and/or annually.
