Job summary

City of Burbank seeks a non-sworn, non-peace officer to perform a variety of law enforcement support duties in a non-emergency capacity. The role includes documenting incidents and coordinating with officers as needed, while maintaining accurate records and conducting investigations where appropriate.

Responsibilities include preparing clear reports, interviewing victims and witnesses, and assisting with parking citations, traffic control, and scene support at civic events.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year experience in law enforcement, code enforcement, police administrative support work, or a recognized police explorer or cadet program involving frequent public contact.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to work outside of normal work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as service needs dictate.
  • A valid California Class "C" driver\'s license or equivalent at time of appointment. State of California POST/LETS certifications within six months of appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Respond in a non-emergency manner to calls not requiring immediate law enforcement response.
  • Prepare crime, incident, and collision reports; gather, analyze, and evaluate facts and evidence.
  • Provide traffic control and assistance at emergency scenes and civic events; interview victims, witnesses, and other parties; provide information to the public.
