Job summary

The State of Utah, Department of Public Safety, is seeking a Criminal Information Technician II- Registry in Taylorsville to manage information requests, maintain offender registry records, and oversee case files while ensuring compliance with federal and Utah laws.

In-office position requiring familiarity with OffenderWatch (SONAR), UCJIS, and Utah Xchange, with a focus on accurate data handling and timely public updates.

Qualifications

• Analytical and detail-oriented candidate with strong organizational skills for record-keeping and data auditing.
• Ability to learn quickly, adapt to evolving technologies and protocols.
• Ability to manage high-volume caseloads accurately in a fast-paced setting.
• Experience applying Evidence-Based Practices in public safety or administrative settings.
• Prior law enforcement experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience with offender management platforms, specifically OffenderWatch (SONAR).
• Familiarity with UCJIS and statutory requirements for Sex, Kidnap, and Child Abuse Offender Registry.
• Experience with active caseload tracking and file maintenance.
• Knowledge of electronic court systems, notably Utah Xchange.

Responsibilities

• Information Request Management: Receive, process, and respond to inquiries from AP&P agents, law enforcement, courts, and others.
• Registry Maintenance: Update offender registry records per security protocols.
• Case File Operations: Open and manage investigation files and official records.
• Public Website Maintenance: Publish accurate registry updates on the public site.
• Compliance & Auditing: Audit registration forms for accuracy and compliance with laws.
