Job summary

City of Fredericksburg, Virginia is seeking a Public Safety Systems Business Analyst to support and enhance public safety systems for Police, Fire/EMS, E911/Dispatch, and Emergency Management. This position combines technical and analytical tasks with opportunities to coordinate upgrades and deliver training materials.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and 1 year of IT operations experience; a Police background check and Virginia driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
• One year of experience in software configuration, application support, or related IT operations.
• Ability to pass a Police background investigation and hold a valid Virginia driver's license.
• Equivalency of education and experience may apply.

Responsibilities

• Configure, support, and troubleshoot essential public safety applications like CAD, RMS, mobile and in-car apps, and NG911.
• Work with vendors and end users to resolve issues and improve system performance.
• Assist and coordinate system upgrades, testing, and user training.
• Gain understanding of Police, Fire/EMS, and Dispatch workflows and align systems to better support operational needs.
• Identify and implement operational and technological enhancements.
• Build reports and basic queries to support state and federal reporting.
• Create documentation, user guides, and training materials.
• Manage small projects and participate in larger technology initiatives.
