Job summary

City of Fredericksburg is seeking a GIS Analyst to support citywide operations by maintaining geospatial data and producing high-quality GIS products for staff, public safety, and the community.

The role requires a 2+ year GIS background, an Associate’s degree in a related field, and a valid Virginia driver’s license. CJIS certification is required; fieldwork and collaboration across departments are common.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent with GIS focus.
• Two years of professional GIS experience in data management, map production and analysis.
• Valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver’s License.
• Ability to pass a Police background check and CJIS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain geospatial data and GIS operations for citywide use.
• Produce high-quality GIS products and maps for staff and community.
• Provide training and support to GIS users across departments.
• Troubleshoot GIS systems and scripts; ensure reliable performance.
