Job summary

The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Public Safety Dispatcher - Recruit in our Public Safety Dispatch Department. You will provide Police and Fire dispatch, operate CAD, STATE and nationwide systems, and support emergency communications in a busy city environment.

Ideal candidates bring strong customer service, multi-tasking ability, and willingness to obtain TCIC/NCIC and TCOLE certifications. Regular on-site presence and readiness during emergencies are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Certificate required.
• Minimum 1 year in a heavy customer service or dispatching role, or 4 years of military service.
• Must obtain TCIC/NCIC certification within 6 months and TCOLE certification within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Provide Police and Fire dispatch via CAD and multi-channel systems.
• Maintain radio communications and relay information to responders.
• Operate state and nationwide computer systems and manage records.
• Support Emergency Management and stay on-site as required.
• Assist in 911 and non-emergency calls for Police, Fire, EMS and others.
