Job summary

City of Houston in Houston is seeking a Senior Police Telecommunicator to receive, process and transmit public safety information using a computer-aided dispatch system, digital radio, and related communications to support police operations. You will dispatch calls for service, monitor field units for coverage and officer safety, and coordinate with multiple agencies with professionalism under pressure.

A High School Diploma or GED is required, plus two years of customer service experience and

Qualifications

Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
Two (2) years of Customer Service experience.
Forty-eight (48) semester hours of college credit may substitute for two years of experience.
Completion of a TCOLE telecommunicator licensing course may substitute for two years of experience.
Must provide certification of successful completion of, or complete within one year of employment, the Basic Telecommunicator proficiency certification per TCOLE requirements.

Responsibilities

Performs law enforcement services by receiving, processing and transmitting public safety information and criminal justice data using CAD, digital radio and other communications.
Dispatches calls for service to police patrol units within Departmental time standards.
Constantly monitors all activities of field police units to ensure unit availability and officer safety.
Coordinates with other dispatchers, divisions, citizens and agencies with professional demeanor and accurate record-keeping.
