Job summary

City of Fresno seeks experienced Emergency Services Dispatchers to join its public safety team. You will answer emergency calls, evaluate incidents, and dispatch police, fire, and EMS using a CAD system while maintaining calm under pressure. A strong typing speed and prior dispatcher experience are required along with a background check and pre-employment process.

Shift work includes weekends/holidays and may involve eight- or ten-hour shifts with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

Possession of a HS Diploma or equivalent GED completion.
Two-years of experience equivalent to Emergency Services Dispatcher II with the City of Fresno, including operation of a multi-channel CAD system.
Must type a net rate of 40 words per minute on a computer keyboard.

Responsibilities

Answers emergency calls for police, fire, and EMS and enters data into CAD.
Determines priority and dispatches public safety units per procedures.
Receives and transmits coded messages to field units.
Inputs driver license, vehicle registration, warrants, and other queries into the CAD system for officers.
Performs other duties as assigned.
