Laramie County Government is seeking a public safety dispatcher to support emergency communications for the county. The role involves handling 9-1-1 and related calls, coordinating dispatch with responders, and maintaining accurate records across radio, CAD, and CJIS systems.

Under supervision, the dispatcher ensures timely responses, tracks responders, and participates in ongoing training to meet emergency standards and procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Ability to work shifts, holidays, and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

  • Answer 9-1-1, Text-2-911, and TTY/TDD calls and relay information to responders.
  • Identify and coordinate EFD/EMD/EPD calls and guide callers through basic safety steps.
  • Enter calls and responder status in a CAD system and monitor activity.
  • Track responders and ensure rapid dispatch using radio, CAD, and GPS tools.
  • Coordinate information flow between responders and support agencies; notify when needed.
  • Utilize CJIS to inquire about licenses, histories, and vehicle data.
  • Maintain information quality and ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Activate Emergency Warning Systems when required and pursue ongoing training.
