Job summary

Navajo County is seeking a public safety dispatcher to support the 911 communications system. The role involves answering calls, prioritizing incidents, and dispatching responders while maintaining clear documentation and coordination with officers.

Under supervision, the dispatcher will operate CAD/NCIC systems, monitor units and alarms, and relay critical information to ensure officer safety and public protection.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to type 35 WPM.
• Completion of 24 hours emergency medical dispatch training and 8 weeks of in-service training.

Responsibilities

• Operates fixed base communications equipment including the 911 system.
• Answers incoming emergency and non-emergency calls by telephone and radio.
• Interviews callers and gathers details, relays information to officers.
• Dispatches calls for service to officers by radio and pager.
• Logs messages and enters call history into CAD/NCIC databases.
• Maintains awareness of patrol units and monitors alarms.
• Provides information to officers and notifies County personnel on critical incidents.
• Performs clerical tasks and maintains records.
