Job summary

City of Orlando is seeking an Emergency Communications Specialist to answer 911 and non-emergency calls, dispatch officers, and relay information accurately. The role requires FCIC/NCIC knowledge and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Starting pay varies by level (I–III) with opportunities for certification and shift work including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Training and required certifications must be completed within set timeframes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must type 25 CWPM.
• Must pass police background investigation including polygraph (polygraph required except for current OPD employees).
• FCIC/NCIC certification within 3 months of employment.
• Must obtain OPD certification within 9 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls for police service.
• Dispatch officers to calls and relay information.
• Maintain logs and files using computer systems.
• Operate FCIC/NCIC databases under supervision and policy.
