Job summary

City of Kissimmee seeks a Telecommunicator to answer 911 and non-emergency calls, obtain accurate information, and dispatch police, fire and EMS units. The role requires routine monitoring of radio channels, use of computer systems, and coordination with various agencies for timely responses.

Responsibilities include data entry, CPR/First Aid when needed, and Emergency Medical Dispatch pre-arrival instructions.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED with up to one year of emergency communications training or equivalent experience.
• Must type 35 wpm with accuracy and have good computer skills.
• Must possess a Florida driver’s license and pass fingerprint-based background check.
• Must obtain FEMA ICS certifications 100, 200, and 700 within 6 months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Answers 911 and non-emergency calls.
• Dispatches police, fire and EMS units promptly and accurately.
• Monitors radio channels and responds to requests.
• Enters information into computer systems and uses FCIC/NCIC searches.
• Provides CPR/First Aid when needed and Emergency Medical Dispatch guidance.
