Job summary

City of Providence seeks a Control Center Operator – Telecommunications to take emergency calls under supervision and direct information to appropriate departments. This position offers 3-11 pm or 11 am-7 pm shifts.

You will learn to operate NCIC, public safety radio and office equipment, enter requests, and dispatch information across police channels while maintaining accurate records and supporting frontline officers.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Must be able to type 30 words per minute.
• Extensive awareness of City of Providence street locations.
• Capable of receiving requests from Police Officers on radio channels.
• Must pass an annual BCI check.

Responsibilities

• Takes emergency calls from the public and directs information to appropriate departments.
• Enters and transmits electronically requests for Public Safety services.
• Learns to operate NCIC, office computers, public safety radio/telephone equipment, and all office equipment.
• Learns dispatch on the informational multi-channel radio.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the on‑duty Crew Chief.
