Job summary

Ball State University seeks a full-time Telecommunications Officer to support the Public Safety Department. You will answer 911 and campus lines, relay information to officers, and monitor field safety while calls are active.

Responsibilities include operating IDACS/NCIC systems, CCTV and alarms, and coordinating with outside public safety agencies. A valid license and ongoing certification training are required.

Qualifications

• Up to eighteen months of education beyond high school or equivalent.
• Three months or more in police, fire, or other communications services (hotline, dispatch), or related experience.
• Must have valid driver's license and be insurable under the university's auto fleet policy.
• Must attain State IDACS certification within 6 months and maintain that certification with renewal annually.

Responsibilities

• Receive all telephone calls (911, 5-1111 or other lines) for assistance and communicate them to officers.
• Maintain communications with officers in the field and monitor their safety.
• Enter information regarding dispatched calls in the CAD/records system.
