Job summary

Provo City seeks a Public Safety Communications Manager to oversee 24/7 operations for police, fire, EMS and 911. You will plan and manage the division budget, pursue federal and state grants, and drive system improvements with vendors to meet standards.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 5 years in public safety communications (3 in supervision), and a valid driver's license. Provo City offers comprehensive benefits and a 4/10 work schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Safety Management, Criminal Justice, Communications, Public Administration or related field.
• Five years of experience in public safety communications or police/fire administration, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Direct 24/7 public safety communications operations for police, fire, EMS and 911.
• Prepare and manage the division budget, allocate resources, and pursue grants.
• Oversee the evaluation, maintenance and improvement of communications systems and vendor agreements.
• Ensure compliance with laws and standards and applicable authorities.
• Coordinate with City departments and agencies and participate in required meetings.
• Provide public education and outreach on 911 and public safety issues.
