Job summary

Provo City Corporation seeks an experienced Public Safety Communications Manager to oversee the 911 telecommunication center for Provo City Police. You will direct 24/7 operations, manage the division budget, and coordinate with multiple agencies to ensure compliant, high-quality public safety communications.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years in public safety communications with at least three years in a supervisory role; a valid driver's license is

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required or related field.
  • Five years in public safety communications or police/fire admin, three years in supervision.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • CMCP or RPL certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct 24/7 public safety communications operations for police, fire, EMS, and 911.
  • Prepare and manage the division budget; allocate resources; pursue grants.
  • Oversee evaluation and maintenance of communications systems and vendor agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, standards, and best practices.
  • Resolve conflicts during major incidents and report on unit performance.
  • Manage personnel: scheduling, evaluations, recognition, discipline, and hiring.
  • Oversee staff training and the unit’s quality assurance program.
  • Maintain operational records and responsible for information release under state law.
  • Coordinate with City departments and other agencies; participate in required meetings.
  • Provide public education on 911 and safety issues.
