Job summary

The Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife is seeking an Office Specialist I in Augusta to support licensing, registrations and program administration. The role involves customer interactions in person, by phone, and online, and requires accurate recordkeeping and basic office tasks.

The successful candidate will learn state laws related to licensing and permits and work as part of a small team across moose permit programs, lotteries, auctions and lodge permits.

Qualifications

  • Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates proficiency in modern office practices.
  • Ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to make determinations on varied matters.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with the public over the phone and basic accounting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Program Administration: Lead the administrative operations for the Maine Moose Permit Program, including the moose permit lottery, moose permit auction, and lodge permits.
  • Deliver Customer Support: Provide clear oral and written information regarding licensing, permits, and registration requirements to the public.
  • Process Financial Transactions: Post payments, handle account adjustments, and perform basic account reconciliation.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Input data, track permits, and update permit files using various computer applications.
