Job summary

The Georgia Department of Public Health in Brunswick, GA is seeking a Training and Development Specialist responsible for assessing training needs, coordinating employee development programs, and aligning activities with HR policies.

You will work under supervision with the Coastal Health District, implementing new programs, managing leave processes, and ensuring compliance while supporting a diverse workforce in public health.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED and four years of HR experience, or equivalent.
• Preferred: five+ years in Training/Development and HR.
• Experience with Workday and Kronos/UKG is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identifies training needs and gaps in the organization with HR Manager and Supervisors.
• Supports District's Training Strategy and Development plan.
• Optimizes the training portfolio with targeted courses for supervisors and staff.
• Schedules training courses and annual refresher trainings.
• Plans and implements district training using Workforce Development and Strategic Plan.
• Develops and coordinates new employee orientation.
• Evaluates training quality and implements improvements.
• Coordinates preparations for training presentations including registration and certificates.
• Oversees performance management, Safety plan, and policy compliance.
• Administers leave programs (FMLA, Military, ADA, Workers' Comp).
• Assists with employee relations.
• Maintains confidentiality of sensitive personnel information.
