The State of Indiana, Division of Family Resources (DFR), seeks a State Eligibility Consultant to ensure accurate benefits determinations for SNAP, Medicaid and TANF. You will review applications, changes and redeterminations, update case information and provide feedback for process improvements.

The role requires strong knowledge of public assistance policies, excellent interviewing skills, and the ability to work with contract staff while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of public assistance policy, practices and procedures.
• Familiarity with federal, state and local rules for public assistance.
• Working knowledge of computerized eligibility systems.
• Ability to identify problems, evaluate options and implement solutions.
• Empathy and tact in dealing with diverse clients.
• Discretion with confidential information.
• Strong interview and communication skills.
• Flexibility and self-motivation to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Basic math calculations.

Responsabilités

• Review eligibility recommendations and information from contract staff.
• Determine eligibility for SNAP, TANF and Medicaid per rules.
• Audit data matches for inconsistencies.
• Approve claims calculated by the Contractor.
• Conduct full eligibility interviews with applicants.
• Stay updated on changes to applicable rules and regulations.
