Job summary

Xcel Energy in Minnesota is offering a Community Relations Intern role to support stakeholder engagement, research, and coordination across the state. You will work with Community Relations Managers serving municipalities, counties, and local organizations.

The internship runs through the summer with a May 24, 2027 start date and potential extension based on performance. Travel within Minnesota may be required, and a hybrid work policy applies.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in public administration, political science, public policy, communications, or related fields.
• Knowledge of community engagement and local government operations is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with updating and maintaining contact databases.
• Support scheduling and coordination of meetings and events.
• Conduct research on municipalities and local government initiatives.
• Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and stakeholder profiles.
• Track permits, franchise agreements, and community projects.
• Assist with special projects and administrative support.
