Job summary

Xcel Energy's Minnesota Community Relations internship offers hands-on experience assisting with stakeholder engagement, relationship management, research, and project coordination across the state.

You will work with Community Relations Managers serving municipalities, counties, and local organizations and gain exposure to government relations, economic development, and utility operations while contributing to critical databases and reporting.

Qualifications

• Current student actively enrolled in college/university pursuing a related degree.
• Travel across Minnesota may be required to support Community Relations activities.
• Commit to full-time summer internship (up to 40 hours/week) and hybrid/in-person work per policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist with updating city/county/tribal nation and other stakeholder contact databases.
• Support scheduling and coordination of meetings, events, and local government engagements.
• Conduct research on municipalities, economic development opportunities, and legislative issues.
• Assist with briefing materials, agendas, stakeholder profiles, and follow-up documentation.
• Track and organize permits, franchise agreements, and community projects.
• Support special projects and administrative tasks to improve team efficiency.
