Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Community Relations Intern to support stakeholder engagement, relationship management, research, and project coordination across Minnesota. You will assist with databases, meetings, and reporting under the guidance of Community Relations Managers serving public entities and nonprofits.

The role offers exposure to local government, economic development, and utility operations, with a hybrid in-person work arrangement and opportunities to grow professionally.

Qualifications

• Current student enrolled in an accredited college or university.
• Pursuing a degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Public Policy, Communications or related field.
• Willingness to travel across Minnesota and support multiple territories.

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain city, county, township, and community organization contact databases.
• Schedule and coordinate meetings, outreach events, and local government engagements.
• Conduct research on municipalities, government initiatives, and community trends.
• Prepare briefing materials, presentations, agendas, and stakeholder profiles.
• Track permits, franchise agreements, and community investment activities.
• Assist with special projects and administrative support for the Minnesota Community Relations team.
