Job summary

Xcel Energy is offering a summer internship to support community engagement across Wisconsin. You will work with Community Relations, Media Relations, and Foundation teams to help grow partnerships and advance programs that strengthen local government and community ties.

The internship runs for the summer with hybrid in-person work, opportunities to learn stakeholder engagement, and hands-on experience in philanthropy and economic development.

Qualifications

• Current student, Sophomore or higher
• Enrolled in a college/university pursuing a degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Political Science
• Willing to travel locally
• Able to work full-time during summer (up to 40 hours/week) and commute to the designated work location in-person

Responsibilities

• Coordinate community engagement activities with nonprofits, chambers, and community organizations
• Assist with foundation and volunteer programs, including tracking employee volunteerism and supporting grants
• Conduct research and prepare briefings on community needs and opportunities
• Draft materials and assist with media/event logistics
• Help manage stakeholder relationships through meetings and contact lists
