Candidates should be a graduate of an accredited nursing program, hold a Michigan RN license, have 3–5 years of psychiatric experience with 1–2 years in management, and possess BLS/CPR and non-violent crisis intervention training.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Current Michigan RN license in good standing.
• Three to five years of psychiatric experience with 1–2 years in management.
• Current BLS/CPR certification; proficient in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
• Internal transfers require good standing.

Responsibilities

• Use nursing process to deliver appropriate nursing care.
• Adjust staffing to ensure coverage per patient ratios with Nurse Unit Manager.
• Replace staff scheduled but unable to work.
• Monitor and evaluate nursing care; rounds across the hospital.
• Provide supervision to staff nurses and psychiatry staff on shift.
• Assist in development of therapeutic unit programs with Nurse Unit Manager.
• Ensure chart auditing for completion and quality.
• Manage admissions during shift according to policies.
• Oversee restraints or seclusion in emergencies per policy.
• Direct activities in emergencies, including fires and disasters.
• Coordinate with Intake Referral Coordinator for timely referrals.
• Investigate incidents and report to Assistant Chief Nursing Officer.
