Job summary

University Behavioral Health of Denton is seeking an Intake Counselor to perform telephonic and in-person risk assessments for determining the appropriate level of care. You will be the first contact for referrals, coordinating intake, and guiding admissions while communicating with families, patients and staff.

The role includes verifying insurance benefits and obtaining authorizations as needed, with a weekend overnight shift.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in psychology, social work or related field preferred.
• 1–3 years experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility preferred.
• Currently licensed to practice as a LPC-Intern, LPC, LMSW, LCSW or RN in the State of Texas.

Responsibilities

• Provide telephonic and in-person risk assessments to identify appropriate level of care for potential patients.
• Serve as the initial contact with referral sources and potential patients; coordinate referral and intake processes; facilitate admission and maintain communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.
• Verify and obtain prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed.
