Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse 1 (T/R C) for Psych Acute Per Diem to provide skilled nursing care in a dynamic psychiatric unit. You will assess patient needs, develop care plans, administer medications, and collaborate with the care team to support patient recovery.

Qualifications

• Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and at least one year of previous hospital acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s condition and nursing needs; coordinate nursing care with other health disciplines.
• Develop a written individualized care plan including teaching needs and discharge planning.
• Administer direct care when professional nursing skills are needed.
• Administer medications.
• Practice infection control and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to Charge RN/Clinician.
• Develop and maintain current written plan of care; set goals with patient/family.
• Document patient/family teaching and ensure alignment with physician instructions.
• Communicate with staff and other departments.
• Participate in unit/hospital quality assurance activities.
