Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) for Psych Acute Per Diem. The nurse will assess patients, plan and deliver nursing care, administer medications, and ensure infection control while coordinating with the care team.

Requires NY RN license and nursing degree; acute care experience preferred. The role includes night shifts, per diem scheduling, and responsibilities to document and educate patients and families within a psychiatric acute setting.

Qualifications

• Requires NY RN license and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• One year of hospital acute care experience preferred.
• RN1 role requires understanding of acute patient care and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition and coordinate nursing care with the treatment team.
• Develop and carry out individualized care plans and discharge planning.
• Administer medications and provide direct patient care per nursing judgment.
• Maintain infection control and safe environment; document care in medical records.
• Communicate patient changes to RN/Clinician and collaborate with staff.
