Job summary

Shermco Industries in Irving, TX is seeking a Relay Tech/Transmission or Distribution II-IV (P&C Technician) to install, commission, test, and maintain protective relay equipment, RTUs, DFRs, and related telecom systems.

Applicants should have 5+ years in electrical testing, experience with SEL and GE relays, substation RTUs, and telecom gear, plus project management and field reporting capabilities. This is a full-time, on-site role with travel and competitive pay.

Qualifications

5+ years in electrical testing focusing on protection and control equipment.
BS in engineering/tech or technical school or military electrical training.
Experience with transmission/distribution relays (SEL, GE, ABB, Westinghouse).
Experience with substation RTUs and telecom equipment for utility projects.
Experience with project management, scheduling, budgeting for P&C/RTU/telecom projects.

Responsibilities

Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relay and telecom equipment.
Perform functional testing for protection and control circuits on lines, transformers, breakers.
Upgrade RTU and telecom systems for various clients.
Document test results for client reporting and regulatory purposes.
Interpret wiring diagrams and configurations; identify discrepancies.
Complete time and expense reporting and maintain company vehicle.
