Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) in the United States is seeking a senior Protection & Control supervisor to lead installation, operation, and maintenance of relay and protective equipment across distribution and transmission stations. You will direct field activities to ensure NERC reliability standards are met and coordinate with engineering, operations, and technical services teams.

You will oversee planning, testing, calibration, and maintenance of relays, RTUs, DAS, DMS, and fault recorders,

Qualifications

ABET-accredited degree requirements with related work experience in protection and control.
Strong collaboration and team-leading abilities in field environments.
Familiarity with NERC, FERC, and regulatory safety requirements.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate daily Protection & Control activities for safety and compliance.
Oversee relay schemes and control systems for reliable operation of equipment.
Plan, schedule, test, calibrate, and maintain protection hardware.
Direct installation and commissioning of switchboards and control systems.
Analyze fault events and outage reports to drive corrective actions.
Maintain documentation for relay settings and calibration records.
