American Electric Power is seeking a technician-level candidate to support installation, testing, and maintenance of protection and control devices across stations. You will work under direct to general supervision and engage with relays, SDR/DFR, SCADA, PLCs, and associated communications gear.

Travel and overtime may be required, with safety and regulatory compliance emphasized. The role stresses hands-on duties, equipment calibration, and accurate record-keeping, with initial training and PAT

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electrical engineering technology, electronic technology, or related field.
• Equivalency may be demonstrated by military technical/technician training or experience.

Responsabilités

• Assist with acceptance and installation tests on protection, control and measurement devices in stations.
• Test protection and control devices periodically and as required.
• Calibrate protection and control devices on a set schedule.
• Assist with diagnosis and repair to prevent recurrence.
• Operate a computer to test, calibrate and retrieve data from protection and control devices.
• Assist in installation, maintenance and operation of PLC, SCADA and related communications equipment.
• Perform switching under direct supervision of qualified personnel.
• Maintain test and automotive equipment for safe, efficient work across the system.
• Prepare and maintain records, reports and drawings.
