Job summary

AEP Service Corporation in Columbus, OH seeks a seasoned Protection & Control leader to supervise installation, operation, and maintenance of protective relay systems across distribution and transmission stations.

You will guide field teams, ensure compliance with NERC standards, and direct efforts during outages to restore service while coordinating with Engineering and Operations for capital projects.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in electrical engineering or related field with relevant experience.
• Or an associate degree with a minimum of eight years in protection and control activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and coordinate daily Protection & Control work activities to ensure safety and compliance.
• Oversee relay and control scheme reviews to ensure reliable operation of transmission/substation equipment.
• Manage planning, testing, calibration, and maintenance for relays, RTUs, DAS, DMS, and fault recorders.
• Authorize contractor work and verify completion to ensure quality and compliance with specs.
• Provide technical leadership during system disturbances and support outage restoration efforts.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Technical Services to meet maintenance and reliability goals.
