Job summary

Ursa Major is seeking a Propulsion Engineer II to support the technical definition, integration, and execution of propulsion systems for hypersonic vehicles. You will work across propulsion design, vehicle integration, systems engineering and test, owning your system from concept through flight demonstration and production transition.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–5 years in propulsion systems engineering or propulsion-focused vehicle development.
• Proficiency with CAD and drafting.
• Knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Hands-on with fluid, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze fluid and mechanical vehicle components including tanks and feed systems.
• Apply first-principles engineering to guide design decisions.
• Support rapid development cycles, testing, data analysis, and hands-on hardware work.
• Modify designs to improve performance and manufacturability.
• Support test planning and execution for ground and flight tests.
• Contribute to failure investigations and design improvement.
• Assemble and test first article prototypes.
• Collaborate across manufacturing, analysis and test teams to reduce variation.
• Interface with customers and participate in reviews and IPT meetings.
• Support producibility and DFM considerations.
