Job summary

Ursa Major in Berthoud, CO is seeking a Senior Engineer, Propulsion Systems to define, integrate, and validate propulsion for hypersonic vehicles. You will own subsystem architecture and lead trades from concept through flight demonstration in fast-paced, hardware-centric programs.

The role blends propulsion design, vehicle integration, systems engineering, and test, with mentorship and close collaboration across manufacturing, analysis, and test teams. Hybrid work option is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering and 8+ years propulsion experience.
• Demonstrated experience with hypersonic or high-performance aerospace vehicles.
• Proficiency in propulsion architecture, integration, and verification.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead propulsion subsystem architecture and requirements for hypersonic vehicles.
• Own subsystem trades, margins, and integration decisions.
• Support design, testing, and data analysis across hardware teams.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, analysis, and test to reduce variations.
• Develop verification plans and compliance evidence for propulsion systems.
• Mentor early- and mid-career engineers and support reviews.
