Job summary

Ursa Major in Colorado is seeking a VP of Engineering to lead an agile team of engineers crafting hypersonic propulsion, avionics and vehicle systems for critical defense programs.

You will set a customer‑driven technology roadmap, oversee the full design lifecycle from concept to FRP, and drive rapid delivery while developing leaders and ensuring 100% mission success for our warfighters.

Qualifications

• 15+ years leading engineers in aerospace/defense.
• Proven TRL progression through qualification.
• Deep background in hypersonics or propulsion.
• Strong communication and decision making.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of engineers for hypersonic propulsion, avionics, and vehicle systems.
• Execute TRL roadmaps for hypersonic products including propulsion and vehicles.
• Own and improve the product design lifecycle from development to FRP.
• Work with operations to meet cost and lead-time goals for delivery and quality.
• Ensure programs meet performance, schedule, and cost targets aligned to customer procedures.
• Develop leaders to build a resilient engineering organization.
