Job summary

Ursa Major is seeking a Propulsion Engineer I to support propulsion system definition, integration, and execution for hypersonic vehicle programs. The role sits at the intersection of propulsion design, vehicle integration, systems engineering, and test, with ownership from concept through flight demonstration and production transition.

The ideal candidate has propulsion experience, strong systems thinking, and the ability to drive technical decisions in fast-paced, hardware-centric programs.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering and 1–3 years in propulsion systems engineering.
• Proficiency with CAD tools and hands-on hardware experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Conceptual and detailed design of propulsion components and systems.
• Perform first-principles analysis to guide design decisions.
• Support rapid development cycles including testing and data analysis.
• Modify designs for manufacturability and performance improvements.
• Assist in test planning and execution, including ground and flight tests.
• Engage in failure investigations and continuous design improvement.
• Assemble and test prototypes and work with manufacturing and test teams.
• Collaborate across engineering teams and interact with customers during reviews.
