Job summary

Ursa Major seeks a Propulsion Engineer II to define, integrate, and execute propulsion systems for hypersonic vehicles. You will own the system from concept through flight demonstration, working at the intersection of propulsion design, vehicle integration, and test.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years in propulsion systems engineering or propulsion-focused vehicle development.
• Proficiency with CAD/Drafting and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Hands-on with fluid, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
• Strong problem solving, task management, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Clean sheet design and analysis of fluid & mechanical vehicle components.
• Leverage first-principles engineering to drive design decisions.
• Support rapid development cycles including testing and data analysis.
• Design modifications to increase performance or manufacturability.
• Support test planning and execution for ground and flight tests.
• Participate in failure investigations and continuous design improvement.
• Assemble and test first article prototypes.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, analysis, and test teams to reduce variation.
• Interface with customers and partners during design reviews and TIMs.
