Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a proven leader to head a dedicated team of propulsion engineers. You will drive the definition, development, and delivery of spacecraft propulsion components while coordinating with multiple stakeholders across locations.

You will manage people, mentor engineers, and ensure HR processes are followed, fostering a high-functioning team culture in a fast-paced environment focused on safety and performance.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of leading and managing teams to deliver complex engineering products.
• Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• Solid understanding of propulsion and thermodynamic fundamentals
• 5+ years of experience in a relevant engineering field, with significant experience in aerospace propulsion systems.
• 2+ years of project management experience.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
• Experience with propulsion, cryogenic and/or Environmental Control and Life Support (ECLS) components used on deep space vehicles

Responsibilities

• Product Delivery: Manage project scope with scrappy, cost-effective execution while meeting program objectives.
• Product Delivery: Identify and manage technical and programmatic risks and opportunities; document and communicate mitigation plans.
• Product Delivery: Coordinate with Operations and Supply Chain to drive product cost and meet delivery objectives.
• Product Delivery: Track and manage team execution, and lifecycle costs.
• Product Delivery: Create framework to collect project data and monitor key metrics.
• Functional Management: Oversee talent acquisition and employee development, performance management.
• Functional Management: Foster continuous growth and ensure HR policy compliance.
• Technical Leadership: Engage on propulsion hardware design, development, build, and test.
• Technical Leadership: Develop and oversee technical plan aligned to customer requirements and internal criteria.
• Technical Leadership: Own lifecycle of assigned product scope from development to production.
• Technical Leadership: Manage interdisciplinary engineering tasks for system success.
• Technical Leadership: Ensure engineering outputs quality and provide direction.
• Technical Leadership: Support requirements decomposition, systems engineering, design, analysis, and verification/validation.
