Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced propulsion engineering leader in Huntsville to lead a cross-functional team responsible for a full lifecycle of propulsion components. You will own technical plans, drive risk management, and coordinate with operations to ensure cost-effective, on-time delivery of high-performance spaceflight hardware.

You will mentor engineers across disciplines, maintain quality, and align initiatives with customer requirements and internal design criteria.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of leading and managing teams to deliver complex engineering products.
• Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Solid understanding of propulsion and thermodynamic fundamentals.
• 5+ years of experience in a relevant engineering field, with significant experience in aerospace propulsion systems.
• 2+ years of project management experience.
• Basic knowledge across relevant engineering disciplines, including requirements negotiation, design, analysis, manufacturing, testing and vehicle integration.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
• Experience with working on Propulsion, Cryogenic and/or Environmental Control and Life Support (ECLS) components used on deep space vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team delivering complex propulsion products.
• Identify and manage technical and programmatic risks and opportunities.
• Coordinate with Operations and Supply Chain to meet delivery objectives.
• Track team execution and lifecycle costs for programs.
• Develop framework to collect project data and monitor key metrics.
• Oversee talent acquisition and employee development.
• Foster growth and ensure HR processes and policies are followed.
• Lead propulsion hardware design decisions and technical plans.
• Ensure lifecycle ownership of assigned product scope.
• Manage interdisciplinary engineering tasks for system success.
