Job summary
Hitachi Energy is seeking a motivated Specialist - Proposals and Business Development to join our Grid Automation team in Raleigh, NC. You will develop technical and commercial proposals for utility, renewable energy, industrial, and data center customers across North America, coordinating with engineering, sales, supply chain, and legal teams.
You will craft scope, pricing, risk assessments, and bid documentation, while maintaining records in Salesforce and supporting contract negotiations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years in proposal development, estimating, sales support, project management, or contract administration.
- Experience in power systems, utility automation, SCADA, or substation automation preferred.
- Knowledge of Incoterms, payment terms, warranties, and project risk management.
- Ability to translate customer requirements into accurate system configurations.
Responsibilities
- Lead preparation of technical and commercial proposals for Substation Automation, SCADA, RTU, and related solutions.
- Review RFQs, specs, contracts, and technical requirements for compliant proposals.
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, supply chain, legal, and project teams to define scope, pricing, schedules, and risks.
- Develop proposal cost estimates, pricing models, and executive summaries.
- Prepare bid documentation, exceptions, clarifications, and risk assessments.
- Support contract negotiations and customer discussions during the proposal phase.
- Maintain proposal records in Salesforce and other systems.
- Participate in customer meetings, bid reviews, and risk reviews.
- Support development of long-term service agreements and modernization projects.
- Drive continuous improvement of proposal tools, templates, and processes.
- Collaborate with sales to identify opportunities and winning strategies.
