Job summary

Greystar in Chicago is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine and preventative maintenance across the property, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and function of buildings, grounds, and amenities.

The role requires EPA refrigerant certification (Type 1/2 or Universal) and a valid driver’s license for on-site tasks. You will handle work orders, make-ready processes, and inventory control while maintaining documentation and safety standards.

Qualifications

• EPA Type 1/2 or Universal refrigerant certification.
• State and local certifications as required for service technicians.
• Valid driver’s license to operate a golf cart on property, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Complete work orders and preventative maintenance by diagnosing defects and performing repairs.
• Finish the make-ready process for vacant apartments, including inspections, punch lists, and scheduling vendors.
• Access materials from the maintenance department, track inventory, and notify reorders as needed.
• Document service requests accurately and timely for proper tracking.
• Assist in grounds and amenities upkeep, including cleaning and minor painting as needed.
• Support cost-cutting by repairing parts instead of replacing when feasible.
• Attend safety meetings, follow OSHA rules, and report accidents promptly.
• Periodically inspect contractors' work to ensure quality and compliance.
• Assist in routine property inspections to identify safety and maintenance needs.
