Job summary

Union County, NC seeks a Land Records Technician to perform data entry and maintenance of countywide land records, ensuring accuracy and supporting the Tax Administration office. You will assist with tax records, deeds, and public inquiries, while reviewing reports for quality control.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of tax or appraisal experience; an associate degree or 2 years of related work is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and one year of experience in tax or appraisal work; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Associate’s degree or two years of experience in tax, appraisal, or data entry work; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Enter and maintain real property valuating data countywide for land splits, transfers, new construction, property appeals and related data.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy; target 5% or less error rate.
• Assist Tax Administrator Office staff, lawyers, bankers, real estate agents, and others with tax records.
• Assist taxpayers with inquiries regarding assessment and the Machinery Act of North Carolina.
• Enter deeds for property transfers, including splits, combinations, plats, and related documents.
• Review computer-generated reports (edit, audit trails, value edit reports).
• Assist in quarterly review of Use Value properties and preparations for appraiser inspection.
• Provide public assistance in-office, answering phones and handling maps and appraisal cards.
