Qualifications

• Associate degree required.
• Three (3) years of related experience.
• Candidates without a degree should possess two (2) additional years of related experience.
• Fingerprinting required.

Responsibilities

• Implements and administers the property maintenance program focusing on complex violations, abandoned homes, nuisance abatement, and foreclosure cases.
• Conducts initial inspections of dwelling units at new and current housing locations to assess minimum housing needs and counsels owners/tenants/agents on applicable codes and regulations.
• Enforces and interprets minimum housing specifications; makes recommendations to modify these specifications.
• Performs site inspections during repair stages to ensure compliance with building codes and issues CO where appropriate.
• Certifies that minimum property maintenance standards are met after work completion and monitors ongoing maintenance.
• Maintains documentation on all properties to meet ordinance requirements and conducts routine inspections to ensure continued compliance.
• Serves as liaison between owners and contractors to ensure timely, quality repair work and mediates disputes if necessary.
• Conducts proactive patrols to detect violations, removes signs, and inspects properties with attention to health and safety concerns.
• Gathers evidence of violations, conducts research on ownership and zoning, and maintains case information in a computer database.
