Job summary

Louisville Metro Government is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to ensure property compliance with property maintenance, land development codes, and federal housing standards. The role requires independent work under supervision, including inspections, contact with owners, and coordination with agencies to achieve code compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
• Six months experience in building trades, property management, fire science technology, electrical, plumbing, mechanical or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Inspects properties to determine violations of applicable code and standards and documents code violations.
• Determines property owners, agents, or other interested parties and discusses code violations and remedies.
• Performs court and administrative hearing inspections and executes administrative search warrants as needed.
• Confiscates dangerous heating devices and identifies rodent infestations, taking appropriate action.
• Prepares daily activity reports and maintains records of pending re-inspections.
• Establishes and maintains effective relationships with property owners, occupants, and partners to address property concerns and achieve compliance.
