Job summary

Top Stack is seeking an experienced Property Accountant to support full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of properties in Baltimore, MD. You will manage GL activity, journal entries, accruals, month-end close, and prepare financial statements.

You will work with internal teams and external accountants, use Yardi or similar ERP, and contribute to process improvements. A Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance and 2+ years of property accounting are required; CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• 2+ years of property or real estate accounting experience.
• Experience with Yardi or similar real estate ERP/accounting system.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting.
• Familiarity with CAM and NNN reconciliations.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUPs.
• CPA or active progress toward CPA preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage property-level general ledger activity, journal entries, accruals, and month-end close.
• Prepare balance sheets, income statements, and budget-to-actual variance reports.
• Handle tenant accounting, including CAM and NNN reconciliations, recurring charges, and lease recoveries.
• Prepare workpapers, trial balances, and financial schedules for audits and tax preparation.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and cash management.
• Maintain accurate property accounting data using Yardi or a similar real estate ERP/accounting system.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and system workflows.
• Partner with external accounting firms and internal stakeholders as needed.
