Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a licensed Civil/Environmental Engineer to lead water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Worcester, MA. You will manage project execution from concept to construction, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and ensure regulatory and funding compliance while maintaining quality standards.

You'll act as the main client contact, guide funding and permitting, oversee construction documents, and contribute to proposals and business development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • PE licensure and progressive project management experience.
  • Experience in water and wastewater projects and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with New England and New York regs preferred.
  • Understanding of construction documents and cost estimation.

Job description

  • Manage project execution from initial concept through construction completion
  • Ensure adherence to technical, regulatory, and funding requirements
  • Act as the primary client contact
  • Guide clients through funding options, permitting, and project execution
  • Supervise multidisciplinary teams and provide technical leadership, mentorship, and oversight
  • Prepare and oversee construction documents, including permit applications, drawings, specifications, opinions of cost, and reports
  • Maintain high-quality standards
  • Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders
  • Address project needs and resolve design challenges
  • Manage project budgets and schedules
  • Support strategic growth by identifying and pursuing new project opportunities
  • Contribute to proposals, interviews, and business development efforts
  • Plan, design, and administer construction of drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including conveyance systems, treatment plants, and pump stations
  • Support capital improvement planning, hydraulic modeling, and asset management programs
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • Considerable consulting engineering experience with increasing responsibility in the water and wastewater industry
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Strong technical skills
  • Strong leadership ability with a passion for managing and mentoring others
  • Clear, concise, and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with New England and New York water and wastewater regulations, permitting processes, and funding opportunities (preferred)
  • Understanding of Revit use on multidisciplinary water and wastewater infrastructure projects (preferred)
  • Experience in water and wastewater system design, including treatment plants, pump stations, conveyance systems, and asset management planning (preferred)
  • Enthusiasm for learning and a self-motivated approach to professional growth (preferred)
  • Additional licensure in multiple states to support diverse project needs (preferred)
