Job description

Ally and Your Career Ally Financial only succeeds when its people do - and that’s more than some cliché people put on job postings. We love this stuff! We see our people as, well, people - with interests, families, friends, dreams, and causes that are all important to them. Our focus is on the health and safety of our teammates as well as work-life balance and diversity and inclusion. From generous benefits to a variety of employee resource groups, we strive to build paths that encourage employees to stretch themselves professionally. We want to help you grow, develop, and learn new things. You’re constantly evolving, so shouldn’t your opportunities be, too?

Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. All work requirements are subject to change at any time based on leader discretion and/or business need.

The Opportunity

The Manager, Marketing Project Manager, helps drive Ally's most important marketing initiatives from idea to execution through both hands-on project leadership and strategic consulting support. Reporting to the PMO Manager Lead within Marketing Enablement, this role partners with Marketing leaders, agencies, Martech, Legal, Compliance, and other stakeholders to bring structure to complex work and deliver successful outcomes. This individual will lead high-visibility marketing initiatives, create alignment across teams, proactively manage risks and dependencies, and drive accountability throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate is a strong project leader who simplifies complexity, facilitates decisions, influences without authority, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where priorities evolve.

Work Itself
  • Lead complex, cross-functional marketing initiatives from intake through delivery or provide consultative support based on the scope and needs of the work.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define objectives, scope, timelines, milestones, risks, success measures, and the appropriate level of PMO support.
  • Build and maintain project plans that drive accountability, transparency, and execution.
  • Facilitate or consult on project kickoffs, working sessions, decision forums, and stakeholder reviews.
  • Create alignment across Marketing, Martech, Sponsorships, Legal, Compliance, agencies, and other partners.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate risks, dependencies, and roadblocks.
  • Escalate issues with clear recommendations and options for resolution.
  • Present project status, risks, and recommendations to Executive Directors and senior leaders.
  • Challenge assumptions, priorities, scope, and timelines when needed to improve outcomes.
  • Drive accountability across stakeholders and ensure commitments are met.
  • Utilize Monday.com and other enterprise tools to manage workflows, reporting, and execution visibility.
  • Champion responsible use of AI to improve project planning, status reporting, workflow documentation, meeting preparation, and team productivity.
  • Support portfolio planning, prioritization, and resource discussions across the PMO.
  • Contribute to PMO standards, templates, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve how work gets done across Marketing.
The Skills You Bring
  • 6+ years of project management, program management, marketing operations, creative operations, consulting, or related experience.
  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive accountability and results through influence rather than authority.
  • Strong interest in building a long-term career in project management, delivery management, or PMO leadership.
  • Strong project planning, risk management, problem-solving, and decision facilitation skills.
  • Executive presence with experience presenting status, risks, recommendations, and tradeoffs to senior leaders.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate ambiguity into clear plans and actionable next steps.
  • Experience managing integrated marketing campaigns, launches, brand initiatives, or large-scale organizational projects.
  • Experience using enterprise work management platforms such as Monday.com, Jira, Asana, Smartsheet, or similar tools.
  • Curiosity and practical experience applying AI or automation tools to improve productivity, communication, planning, or reporting.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Communications, Project Management, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Marketing, creative operations, agency, or marketing operations experience.
  • Financial services or other regulated industry experience.
  • Experience managing agency relationships and external partners.
  • Experience improving processes, workflows, and ways of working.
  • PMP, CAPM, Agile, Scrum, or similar project management certification.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 7+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High school Diploma or GED equivalent.
