Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking an experienced Project Manager Staff to lead complex project and outage work across a matrix organization. You will plan, direct, and monitor activities, ensuring safe practices and effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

The role emphasizes delivering value through disciplined project controls, cost management, and proactive communications. You will mentor project managers and engage with regulators and customers as needed.

Qualifications

• PMP certification required unless waived by SVP/OPCO President.
• Bachelor's degree with 7–10 years of qualified experience (or related path).
• Associate's degree with 9–12 years of experience.
• HS Diploma with 11–14 years of experience.
• 3 years as PROJECT MANAGER SENIOR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and supervise project/outage activities.
• Use project management principles (Waterfall, Agile) for the organization.
• Ensure safe working environment per Zero Harm policy.
• Manage cost, schedule, and staff; communicate updates.
• Lead planning meetings and stakeholder presentations.
• Develop and manage procurement plans and vendor contracts.
• Manage closeout analyses and project benefits realization.
