Job summary

MPI is seeking a senior Project Manager in Columbus to lead the project management team, drive schedule and budget decisions, and ensure successful delivery across a diverse portfolio. You will collaborate with executives, manage client relationships, and shape project strategy in a growth-focused organization.

The ideal candidate has 3–5+ years in general contracting, strong communication, and proficiency with Procore/Bluebeam/Primavera.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 3–5+ years project management experience in general contracting.
  • Experience with a General Contractor and conceptual estimating.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction software.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee project management team and day-to-day operations.
  • Make decisions balancing schedule and budgets.
  • Manage scope review and change orders.
  • Coordinate permits and occupancy with authorities.

Job Description
The Project Manager will be responsible for:
  • Oversee project management team and manage the day-to day operations
  • Ability to make decisions that consider both schedule and budgets
  • Manage scope review process
  • Negotiate change orders
  • manage permit and occupancy with government agencies
  • Manage and update budgets
  • Conduct regular status meetings with project team
  • Deliver projects on time and within company profit targets
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and timelines
  • Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
  • Review and approve project plans, drawings, and specifications
  • Monitor project performance and prepare regular progress reports
  • Manage procurement of materials and services
  • Resolve project issues, conflicts, and delays in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records
  • Ensure quality control standards are met throughout the project lifecycle
  • Support business development efforts, including client presentations and proposals
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, vendors, and partners
  • Track project costs and forecast financial performance
  • Lead project closeout processes, including final documentation and client handoff
  • Mentor and support project team members to drive performance and development

The Successful Applicant
The successful Project Manager will have:
  • Bachelor's Degree (Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management is plus)
  • Project Management 3-5+ years preferred
  • Experience with a General Contractor
  • Conceptual Estimating experience
  • Communication skills and can wear many hats
  • Microsoft Suite Software Proficient
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, building systems, and project life cycles
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, timelines, and subcontractor performance
  • Experience coordinating with architects, engineers, consultants, and field personnel
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contractual documents
  • Skilled in risk management, problem-solving, and strategic decision-making
  • Proficient in project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera, MS Project)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams
  • Strong negotiation skills with vendors, suppliers, and trade partners
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation practices
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of state/local building codes, permitting, and compliance requirements
  • Experience conducting site walks, progress inspections, and safety assessments
  • Capable of building strong client relationships and ensuring high satisfaction
  • Adaptable and proactive in resolving conflicts or unexpected project challenges
